NYC Launches Amnesty Program for Resolving ECB Violations

If you have unresolved Environmental Control Board (ECB) violations in judgment, you may be eligible for NYC’s Forgiving Fines Amnesty Program.

The NYC Department of Finance, in conjunction with the NYC City Council, have been running an Amnesty Program that allows participants to pay reduced penalties and waive interest rates on unresolved Environmental Control Board (ECB) violations that were filed in court before June 12, 2016.

Forgiving Fines: The NYC Amnesty Program will be available for three months – starting on September 12, 2016 and ending on December 12, 2016.

Forgiving Fines

  • “Schedule A” Violations - those that only require payment.
  • “Schedule B” Violations - those that require both payment and corrective action.

Exclusions to participating in the Amnesty Program include: any business or individual who applied for the 2009 Penalty Relief Program, but failed to resolve all of their debt and violations that are part of an installment agreement or other resolution agreement.

Please note: Criminal violations and violations over $25,000 are excluded from this amnesty program.

It is important to note that in order to receive the reduced fee amounts offered through this program, you must pay the full amount for all of the eligible judgments you owe on or by December 12, 2016.
