Overview

GW Hillel is a 21,000-square-foot facility designed to serve the university’s thousands of Jewish students. Over a decade of planning and construction were involved in making the center a reality in the heart of the country’s capital. With such a remarkable location there are dilemmas—situated between a residence hall and a historic church and sitting at an intersection that doesn’t allow for traffic closures, the project experienced delays. Milrose was brought in specifically to get the project back on schedule and get the building occupied before the start of the college semester. This was possible because Milrose worked closely with the general contractor to secure the RAZE permit to demolish the existing structure while collaborating with the design team to prepare drawing packages required to execute a permit strategy conducive to the project schedule. ENR MidAtlantic recognized the project as the Best Small Project of 2021.
