Cooling Towers and Other Mechanical Equipment: Annual Inspections

For any equipment that obtains an Equipment Use Permit (EUP Card) from the Department of Buildings (DOB) during the sign off process, the FDNY is notified of this units installation.

The FDNY is then responsible for scheduling and conducting an annual inspection for all units that have an active EUP card. If the FDNY completes their inspection and the DOB approved EUP Card cannot be located, you may be susceptible to a Notice of Violation (NOV) from the FDNY.

Once the FDNY successfully completes an inspection of the unit(s), they will issue an invoice to the account holder (tenant or landlord) for the annual inspection fee. This invoice must be paid to finalize the FDNY annual inspection process. If the invoice is not paid in the defined period of time, the tenant or landlord may be susceptible to a Notice of Violation.
