Philanthropy Spotlight: Brendan O’Neill – Foundation Fighting Blindness

As part of Milrose’s Year of Philanthropy, a year-long philanthropic campaign in celebration of the firm’s 30th anniversary, each quarter we are going to spotlight a Milrose employee who volunteers their time and talents to charitable causes and encourage others to join them and lend their support. To kick off the series, we interviewed Milrose’s Special Inspections Coordinator, Brendan O’Neill.

In addition to working at Milrose, Brendan dedicates a great deal of his time to serving on the Leadership Team for the Foundation Fighting Blindness - a non-profit organization with a cause that is very personal to Brendan.

When Brendan was 18 he was diagnosed with a rare retinal degenerative disorder. As a young man, the news was hard for him to accept, but in 2015 he decided to take action by getting involved as a volunteer for the New York Chapter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Through his involvement he hopes to inspire other young people with vision issues to join him in raising awareness about retinal degenerative diseases and drive funding for important treatments and cures for the millions of Americans affected by eye disease.

One of FFB’s biggest fundraisers is VisionWalk – a 5k walk that has raised over $45 million to fund sight-saving research since it began in 2006. This year’s New York City Chapter event will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 9 AM in Central Park.

Please join Milrose in supporting Brendan and the Foundation Fighting Blindness by attending the walk or pledging your support.

Last year Brendan raised $2,000 to fight blindness and this year his personal goal is to raise $2,500. In the spirit of Milrose’s Year of Philanthropy, we encourage everyone to lend their support to Brendan and the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Brendan is also dedicating his time to serving on Milrose’s Year of Philanthropy Committee. As a committee member, he is helping organize events and activities throughout the year that foster a spirit of compassion and generosity among employees. When asked why he chose to get involved in the Philanthropy Committee, Brendan said...

I’m proud to work for a company that is not just worried about our bottom dollar. We're more concerned about the bigger picture and corporate social responsibility. It really speaks to the characters of the partners because they don't have to donate but they want to. It’s what makes Milrose a company that you want to work for.”
