Go Green or Go Home - 5 Ways to Make Your Office More Eco-Friendly

In preparation for the upcoming Earth Day holiday, Milrose Consultants has launched a new initiative to ‘Go Green’ and team together to reduce our carbon footprint. Read on to learn about the steps we have taken and find out 5 eco-friendly practices you can implement at your own office.

Beginning this month, our office has pledged to “make Earth Day every day” and significantly cut back on our paper consumption. To do this, Milrose has provided all employees with reusable stainless steel tumblers that will be used instead of disposable paper cups. The average office worker in the United States throws out 500 disposable cups a year. By making a commitment to using less paper, Milrose will be taking a small but important step forward in protecting our forests, cutting energy use and climate change emissions, and limiting pollution. Now more than ever is a critical time to embrace sustainable practices in the workplace.

If you’re looking to Go Green for Earth Day this year, here are 5 ways your office can reduce consumption and help save our planet:

1. Ditch single-use coffee pods – Many single-use coffee pods are not recyclable and produce a large amount of waste. Milrose recently replaced their single-use coffee machines with communal coffee carafes. If your office prefers k-cups over coffee pots, consider enrolling in a custom recycling service.

2. Invest in reusable cups – Follow our lead and cut paper cup consumption by providing all employees with eco-friendly hot/cold tumblers that employees can use for water and coffee.

3. Print less – Work with your IT Department to make 2-sided, black and while printing the default setting for all of the printers in your office.

4. Improve air quality by bringing in a desk plant – Encourage employees to bring in desk plants to improve the air and boost productivity. Check out this list of plants that improve indoor air space.

5. Reduce power usage by making sure to turn off conference room monitors and room lights when they are not in use.

We hope you will join us in honoring Earth Day by adopting the eco-friendly practices listed above in your office place. Together, we can make a difference in preserving our environment.
