Philanthropy Spotlight: Danielle Sackie-Mensah New York Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

In celebration of Milrose’s Year of Philanthropy, a year-long philanthropic campaign in celebration of the firm’s 30th anniversary, we are spotlighting Milrose employees who dedicate their time outside of work to making a difference in their community.

This month, we sat down with Milrose Lead Project Manager, Danielle Sackie-Mensah, and learned about her fundraising work for New York Alumnae Deltas, Inc. (NYAD), a 501 (c)(3).  NYAD seeks to increase educational opportunity, strengthen economic development, and culturally enrich distressed and underprivileged communities throughout New York City with a primary focus on the Harlem community.

Danielle first became involved with NYAD, through her membership with the New York Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (NYAC) in the spring of 2014.  Danielle’s alumnae chapter partners with NYAD to provide scholarship awards to college bound youth from Manhattan.  As an active member of NYAC’s Fundraising Committee, Danielle has been instrumental in organizing and promoting fundraising events to raise scholarship money for deserving students over the past four years.

The chapter’s signature fundraising event, Big Hats and Brims Scholarship Brunch, takes place annually in April.  Although the 2018 Big Hats and Brims Scholarship Brunch has passed, the work of enriching the lives of deserving young people is never done.  If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to support Danielle and her organization’s scholarship efforts, please visit https://www.paypal.me/NYADscholars/.
