124 Columbia Heights

124 Columbia Heights, also known as the “The Torrehouse,” is a 14-story multi-unit residential landmarked building located on the waterfront of Columbia Heights in Brooklyn, New York. Our work consisted of providing a new design for the conversion of the building from a dormitory to a luxury waterfront residential property, which included state of the art amenities on behalf of the developer.

For this project, HLZAE was tasked with providing a completely new design of MEP systems including, WeWork office spaces, indoor & outdoor pools, spas, golf simulators, and garages. The biggest challenges of this project involved coordinating and making all of the new code required systems fit within an existing old building structure. This was done while allowing for maximized ceiling heights and providing the architect with flexibility to fit the interior spaces as per the project goals.
