Following a significant fire that collapsed portions of the roof, emergency work began immediately to provide shoring at damaged floors and roof to prevent further collapse and ensure the safety of the emergency workers. All units of the building were vacated. HLZAE worked with various City agencies (OEM, FDNY, NYPD, Red Cross, HPD, DOB, ConEd) in an effort to return as many families as possible to the building’s units where fire did not cause damage. Emergency permits and subsequent DOB permits were obtained to ultimately secure the building then rebuild all damaged units to better than the pre-fire condition. HLZAE also worked with the building and their insurance consultants to ensure the Owner’s received fair compensation from their insurance company for damages sustained.
