Riverside Church

HLZAE completed a major façade restoration of this significant New York City Landmark cathedral located in the Upper West Side. The scope included repairs to the building’s 250-foot neo-Gothic limestone tower and cathedral with an adjoining nine-story wing. 

The restoration project included limestone repair and cleaning, waterproofing of all roofs and terraces, repair of the underlying steel structure, and a full reconstruction of the garth and sidewalks surrounding the entire block. Sculptural, architectural elements and statuaries were also restored by replication with Dutchman repairs and patching mortar. The deteriorated stone was stabilized using chemical consolidates. Final restoration fixes included leaded glass and window repairs as well as extensive bird netting.
